Here are the best practices when it comes to optimizing your video for seo purposes. Follow all of these as much as possible, this is really really important.
Your title should have the exact keyword phrase you are targeting. Plus add some exciting keywords like…
CRAZY GAME – AntiViceral Vs. Squadron13 – DOTA 2 Finals Tournament
AMAZING ENDING – TeamBoyGirls Vs. AsorcbicPoison – DOTA 2 Semi Finals
B. Short and Sweet
If you can make your video length, 5 minutes or less the better. No one really watches long videos on youtube except if it is a documentary or if it is about something they are really interested in.
C. File name
Make sure that you file name has your main keyword in it.
The Google algorithm loves it when a file name is related to your video content because it let Google know that the video is about that topic.
It’s like you’re saying
“Hey Mr. G!, my video is about DOTA 2 Natus Vincere vs. Vega Squadron !”
And then Mr. G answers back – “Thanks men, I will reward you for that – I will give you higher google rankings!”
OK, this is getting weird but I know that you get the point.
D. Title Stacking
Putting your keyword twice in the title will help your google rankings.
Make sure though that your title makes sense and you’re not just spamming the crap out of youtube.
DOTA 2 Natus Vincere vs. Vega Squadron – Best Fight Ever – Best Vega Squadron Comeback Fight – June 2015
It repeats your keyword Vega Squadron but with variation.
E. Your channel name
Your channel name should be related to your keyword as much as possible.
Ex. Main keyword is “DOTA 2 Natus Vincere vs. Vega Squadron”
Your channel name could be –
Just pick something that has some of your keywords in it.
One of the most important parts of your video is your description. It has three purposes.
First, it let the viewers know what it is they are watching.
Second, you can use it to link out to your website or to any website where you want your viewers to go
Third, it helps Google in determining what the content is about. It also helps in rankings since it is part of Youtube-Google algorithm.
You must put http:// on your url to make it clickable.
Today, I recommend that you put a 250 words description on your video. Tell them what they can expect in the video, what games will they see etc
It is good practice to put at least one or two annotations related to your topic. Don’t spam your video with annotations, your viewers might get irritated and leave your page.
DON’T MISS THIS – THIS IS HOW YOU WILL MAKE MONEY!
Make sure that you enable monetization for your video in the CHANNEL SETTING part then click “Monetization” tab.
Step 6 – Promote Your Video
The easiest way I know to promote your video is via Facebook. Join Facebook groups about DOTA and then post your replays.
I swear by this method, You can easily join dota 2 groups on Facebook and update them with new videos every day. Many people will be glad to see replay of their favorite teams on youtube.
Also, it’s also a good way to know what videos they want to see. If they want a certain team, then record that team. It’s like you’re getting live feedback from your audience, then you just give them what they want. In the end, you’ll get more views (more adsense income) and happy viewers.
Step 7 – Rinse & Repeat
For this part, you just have to follow the system over and over again. I recommend that you create a minimum of 3 videos a day. It shouldn’t take you 2 hours to finish the process from start to finish.
Some other profitable games where you could do the same:
League of Legends
World of Warcraft
Step 8 – Youtube Adsense & Video Monetization For Non Enabled Accounts
This step is for people who are outside Western countries- which means they are not allowed to directly monetize their video via the youtube monetization settings.
Go to your channel’s homepage and click on the “Edit” pencil icon that is at the bottom-right of your channel’s cover photo. From the menu that pops up, select “Channel settings.”
There, change your channel’s country to a Western country (U.S., France, Germany, United Kingdom, etc…) then save settings.
You should now be able to enable the monetization part of your Video Manager.
The dollar sign means it’s available for monetization.
Again, to enable monetization,
- In your account’s settings, go to the monetization tab.
- Click Enable My Account. You’ll only see this option if your account is in good standing and hasn’t been disabled for monetization.
- Follow the on-screen steps to accept the YouTube monetization agreement.
Note: Do not sign up for youtube adsense unless you already have videos uploaded. Make sure that your channel looks clean and your videos should be getting views already.
If you got that part right, then you won’t have any problem signing up on youtube adsense.
